The LA Group continues a long relationship with SUNY Oneonta in collaborating with the project team on this successful design. They analyzed the program and challenging project site as part of developing design options for the team’s consideration. The resulting design successfully transforms a walkway into a major pedestrian corridor that provided an axial relationship to, and view of, the core of the campus and beyond. The design also enhances the setting and visibility of both the “Pillars” and “911” monuments by incorporating them more effectively into the quad space.
The grand central staircase is a key to accommodating the grade change of more than 30’ that is encountered as one walks through the quad from the outdoor cafe terrace, past the relocated monuments, to the top of the stairs. The LA Group’s services for this integrated design includes site analysis, stakeholder meetings, developing concept alternatives, mass transit review/improvements, presentations to College administration, LEED Silver certification, and strong design team coordination.
