To help spur economic development, The LA Group worked to create pedestrian friendly designs for Oneonta’s Water Street facade and streetscape improvements. These upgrades called for a coordinated theme of banners, awnings, colors and signage, street trellis work, handicapped accessibility, safety issues, and aesthetic elements. Site features included ornamental lighting, brick pavers, granite curbing, stairways, handicapped ramps, decorative fencing, signage and plantings.

To help entice more people downtown, The LA Group worked with the City of Oneonta to design the reconstruction of a public plaza on Main Street. The LA Group provided landscape architectural and civil engineering services to create a functional, yet aesthetically pleasing and safe public gathering space.

Our scope included demolition and removal plans; layout and materials plans; grading and drainage plans; utilities plan; landscape plan and amenities; technical specifications and a detailed cost estimate. The City’s project was prepared concurrently with a new hotel plaza adjacent to the City’s site that The LA Group also designed.

Since 1996, The LA Group has been under a continuing term agreement with the City of Oneonta for improvements to their municipal park system. The project goals include improvements to the City’s facilities, identification and analysis of the system’s strengths and weaknesses, development of five-year and ten-year improvement programs and design and construction document services for projects on an as-needed basis. Projects range from passive recreational areas to athletic facilities. To date, projects include one new park and three rehabilitated parks.
